How to Look Up Crime Stats

Did you know the Provo City Police Department publishes monthly crime reports on the Provo City website? You can find all of the reports back to January 2009 here. The information is compiled by the department’s crime analyst, Leigh Ferre. Here’s a random sample of some of the information that can be found in the July 2011 report:
  • Year-to-date calls for service to our Emergency Dispatch Center are down 15%.
  • In July there were 8148 calls for service.
  • 96 of those calls were for fireworks violations.
  • Since January 1, 2011, there have been 927 incidents of larceny, an increase of 6%.
  • Graffiti and gang activity are down 58% and 70% respectively.
If you have any questions about the crime in your area, a good person to call is the Community Oriented Police Officer assigned to your neighborhood.
