You may have noticed the new curb and gutter, 10-foot multi-use path, and decorative street lighting along the east side of south State Street between 1120 South and 1860 South. They’re all part of the South State Street Safety Improvement Project.
Join us in celebrating the completion of these improvements on Monday, August 20, 2012. There will be a (very) short community bike ride along the new path starting at 12:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the LDS Church at 1745 S. State St. and ending at the vacant lot near 1120 S. State St. (where the drive-in theater used to be). At 1 p.m. in the vacant lot, there will be a short program followed by free snow cones for everyone and a bike giveaway. (The bike is from the city’s unclaimed property inventory, refurbished by the Provo Bike Committee).
This project was done in partnership with UDOT, and there will soon be funding to extend the same improvements up to 900 South. In case you missed it, you can read more about it in the July city newsletter here.
