Congratulations to Emily Nelson, winner of the bike giveaway last Monday. We were celebrating the completion of the safety improvements along south State Street. Thanks goes to the Provo Bike Committee for refurbishing the bike.
The improvements include a new 10-foot multi-use path (good for biking), new curb and gutter, and decorative lighting on the east side of the street from 1120 South to 1860 South. The plan is to continue improving that area as funding becomes available.
Miss Provo, Kaiti Purse, helped at the event and let girls like Siuelli Van Lenten, above, try on her crown. Miss Provo got asked some hard questions: “Is the mayor your dad?” and “How did you get to be the princess of Provo?” By the way, she’s also a city lifeguard.

The final beam of the new rec center was set in place last Thursday. But first it was signed by residents, employees, and construction workers. Notice the new city logo drawn freehand with Sharpies by Parks and Recreation staff member Allie Clark.

The young and old pitched in to spruce up properties in the Franklin and Maeser Neighborhoods on Saturday.
