South State Street Construction US89 Overlay

South State Street Construction US89 Overlay

State Street in Provo is getting a facelift this summer. This image shows the project, where it is happening, and what to expect from construction (grey area).

A pavement overlay project from 300 South in Provo to 700 South in Springville will begin Monday, June 3 and is expected to be completed October 2013. This project will improve the quality of the road surface and extend the life cycle of the road. Crews will mill off the top 2-4 inches of deteriorated asphalt and repave with fresh asphalt. The majority of construction will be done as night work between the hours of 7pm-7am.

Noise and vibration impacts should be expected intermittently as the project moves through your immediate area. There will also be a few activities during the day with minor impacts to travel lanes to complete items such as ADA ramps and signal work. One lane in each direction will be maintained at all times.

Residents can receive weekly South State Street Construction Updates by sending a request to us89overlay@utah.gov. If you have any questions or concerns, call 801-857-9957.

Will the back road by the cemetery be open before construction on State Street starts (900 S/550 E)? The residents in the neighborhood just south of the cemetery rely on that back road because turning left out onto State Street is always so hard. I can only imagine it will be even harder/more dangerous to get out of our neighborhood after the construction starts (especially since street side parking is permitted on State Street right before 1140 S).
