A national transportation organization has selected UDOT’s I-15 Corridor Expansion (I-15 CORE) as one of the top ten projects of the year, and now Utah has the chance to turn that nomination into $10,000.
Now through October 2, the public can vote for I-15 CORE for the “People’s Choice” award. If I-15 CORE receives the most votes out of the ten finalists, they will win $10,000 to donate to the charity of their choice—United Way of Utah County.
United Way is so excited about this wonderful opportunity! Please vote (and invite all your friends to vote!) for I-15 CORE at http://nominate.americastransportationawards.org/voting.aspx.
Each person can vote up to ten times every day through October 2. The easiest way to do this is to click “Vote for this project!” (I-15 CORE is the last on the list), enter your email address and hit submit. Then immediately select the “back” button and hit submit again. It will stop you after ten times. Winners will be announced October 20.
With $10,000 donation from UDOT, United Way plans to:
- Paint educational playground games that encourage literacy, math, and exercise at 23 schools in Utah County.
- Help 1300 low-income individuals get free tax assistance, which brings money back into our local economy through tax refunds.
- Give developmental screenings to 615 children, which increases the likelihood of discovering a developmental delay early by 70-80%.
**Additional information: I-15 CORE was completed in December 2012 and included the widening and reconstruction of 24 miles of I-15 from Lehi to Spanish Fork. The project was completed $260 million under budget and two years earlier than originally planned.
