Calling all young scientists!  Provo City Parks and Recreation Department will be holding their annual Kids Science Palooza at the new Provo Recreation Center (320 W 500 N) on Saturday, March 22 from 12:00 – 3:00 pm. The event is $4.00 per person, adults are free with paid child (children 2 & under are free).

Science Activities

Upon arrival, you will be given clearance as a Scientist in Training. You will then learn about zoology, biology, physics, fitness and health, lasers, entomology, meteorology, engineering, dietetics, and more through various experiments, demonstrations, and activities.
Explore the Larger than Life Science Maze, become an air-bender in the Avatar Science room, interact with live animals and bugs, and become a trained scientist in everything from physics to bee-keeping to liquefaction science. Entertainment will include laser light shows, University of Utah Physics presentations, Sub Zero Ice Cream, and Laser Light shows.
Parents will have opportunities to take home ideas and instructions for leading fun science activities at home while kids enjoy interacting with local scientists and student from across the valley. All participants will receive a bag with candy, toys, and science project instructions.  Each kid will have the chance to complete a “Scientist in Training” challenge to be entered into a drawing for science kits and games.

I have a houseful of budding scientists. After many science fair projects, they already consider themselves “scientists” and “inventors.” Which they should, right? 🙂 They are just thrilled to have a chance to come and be surrounded by awesomeness! This is an incredible event idea for kids in our community. A great way to promote education and progress. We can’t wait to come and be a part. They are especially excited to see the animals and the bugs!

  15. Kristi

I am most excited about the live animals and bugs, if I had to pick. But this sounds like it will be “best day ever!” for my kids. Thanks for Provo does! I love living here! 🙂

Is it bad that I’m excited for the SubZero ice cream the most? Although my kids would love the animals and bugs I’m sure! :0)

We have lived in Provo three years and have never been to this Palooza yet, although I have heard great things about it! I think it all sounds awesome, but what really caught my eye was the larger than life science maze!
