The Best of Utah Valley Magazine competition for local bloggers is going on right now and guess what? The Provo Mayor Blog has made the list!
It’s fun to look back and think about when I started this blog – I wasn’t even sure if anyone on the other end was reading it. I remember during the Freedom Festival parade in July 2010 hearing people shout from the crowd, “I love your blog!” It was an ah-ha moment for me.
I feel like this blog has given residents a chance to get to know me. I can say things on the blog I can’t say with a formal camera and the press in front of me. I can joke and be quirky and poke and prod at sensitive issues in a way I can’t in any other venue. It is an easy way to get the word out, vent a frustration, and to share some good or thrilling news. It’s my way of saying “Hello!” every day and staying in touch with all of you short of appearing on your doorstep each morning.
So if you love this blog and enjoy reading my posts, vote for the Provo Mayor Blog by Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 4:00 pm. The winner will be announced in the November/December issue of Utah Valley Magazine.

PS The other blogs nominated are also pretty awesome so you won’t hurt my feelings if you vote for them.
PPS Vote for #ProvoRocks as “Best Local Hashtag”. At question #9 just type #ProvoRocks in the “other” section & let’s see if we can change the vote!
