Provo Holiday Events 2014

There are so many festive activities and events going on in Provo this holiday season so I’ve made a list and I’ve checked it twice in order to put together all of events your whole family can enjoy. Santa Claus is coming to town and his first stop is the Shops at Riverwoods! Help us ring in the holidays with Mayor John Curtis, Utah Regional Ballet, musical guests The Strike, and more. Enjoy holiday festivities including ice sculptures, warm treats, carriage rides, and millions of twinkling lights. Join the thousands that have made this a holiday tradition!


Saturday, December 6, 4:00 – 6:00 pm

The Sixth Annual Provo Santa Run is becoming a Utah County holiday tradition. Run a 5K wearing a Santa suit! Elves will assist you at the milk and cookie aid stations. Visit for more information.

Welcome the new year with Provo Beach at the Shops at Riverwoods. They’ll be giving away prizes, playing games, and celebrating 2015 as we count down to the noon hour. RSVP HERE.

Free with Membership, $15 for guests | Ages 50+

Over the river and through the woods, to the Recreation Center you go! Gather around the Christmas tree with other community members ages 50+ by celebrating with a full dinner, live holiday music, and dancing.

David Lanz will be performing some of his best-known works and highlighting his brand new holiday album, Forever Christmas. Forever Christmas is the first full-length collaboration and a unique blending of the contemporary piano master and the angelic voiced Kristin Amarie, who will be joining David on stage to perform selected pieces from this new recording.

Thursday, December 4-20, 2014 | 7:30 pm

Joyful Noise is a play about redemption. It’s a smart, well-written play replete with interesting characters, humor, and grand emotion. Everyone in the play has in some way been “damaged” and through their interactions with Handel’s “Messiah,” they find redemption. Back by popular demand at the Covey Center, this holiday favorite played last year to sold-out audiences.

$5 adults | $4 youth | $1 off advanced purchase

Celebrate the last hours of 2014 at Provo’s annual New Year’s Eve Celebration. This event includes two firework shows at 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. along with the following entertainment:

Urban Rail Jam, Comedy Show, Hypnotist, Animal Show, Aerial Artists, Drum Lines, Live Bands, A Capella Groups, Yo-Yo Grand Master, Magic Show, Laser Tag, Photo Booth, Inflatables, Rock Wall, Giant Just Dance, Princesses, Clowns, Face Painting, Kids Crafts, Food Eating Contest, Balloon Artists, and much more!

Tickets available starting December 1 at Provo Recreation Center and Provo’s Winger’s. Advanced purchase receives $1 off per ticket.

New Years

Wednesday, December 31, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
$15/ Competitor | Free for Spectators

Compete with other local skiers or snowboarders for the $300 first prize at Provo’s 2nd Annual Urban Rail Jam. We’ll bring the ramps and the snow – you bring your best tricks. Winners awarded in skiing and snowboarding brackets with judging by Utah Team Snowboarding.

*All participants receive free entrance to Countdown in Provo the same night.
