Provology 101

Take a Closer Look

Provo City is a pretty amazing place. From our spectacular mountains to our thriving businesses, from BYU football to Rooftop concerts we’ve got a lot to brag about. But, what happens behind the scenes to support everything?

Have you ever wondered what happens to the water after it leaves the tub? Or where the electricity for the stage lights comes from? What’s the difference between economic development and redevelopment? Of course, the burning question on everyone’s mind: who’s in charge here anyway? (hint: it might be you) We invite you to join us for an exclusive look backstage.

We’re excited to announce the first ever Provology 101 class where you can go behind the scenes and learn the answers to these questions and much more. You’ll learn about how our city is run, where and how to find information, and meet some of the people who make it all work.

The inaugural academy will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. every Wednesday beginning September 9th until October 28, 2015, with a graduation on November 10th. Each night you’ll learn about different departments in the city and what they do. You’ll tour facilities, participate in activities and watch demonstrations. We guarantee you’ll know more about Provo when we’re done than you did when you started.

Our goal is to help you increase your ability to understand what’s happening in our city and find your own way to participate in the decision making process. Enrollment in this free program is only open to adult Provo residents and class size is limited. Applicants who are unable to attend this session will be notified September 7th and have their names placed on a wait list. Registration is open online from August 11-September 4.
