Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day 2016

On Saturday, April 9 residents of Utah County can dispose of old or unused household chemicals from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Provo Towne Centre Mall west parking lot. Agencies across the county will come together to take your old or unused household chemicals and properly dispose of them so they don’t pollute our environment.

Here is a poster of what to bring and what not to bring:

How to pack your wastes

Do not mix wastes. If possible, leave materials in original containers with labels intact, or mark containers if labels are missing. Be sure all containers are capped or sealed. Containers must be deposited with waste materials, they cannot be returned. Transport in a cardboard box lined with newspaper.

It’d be nice if another date could be chosen for the hazardous waste disposal that doesn’t coincide with the school district’s spring break. A lot of people travel out of town during spring break so they unfortunately missed this opportunity.

      Hi Amy,

Thanks for your input. I’ve sent your suggestion to the Utah County Health Department.

  2. I had no idea that so many things could be labelled as hazardous waste. I think it’s awesome that the city put together this type of event for people to come and get rid of their hazardous materials in a safe way. I wish it could happen more often, like Amy already said, but I’ll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for the next event like this to get rid of all my stuff. Thanks for sharing!
