If you’re looking for a new favorite restaurant in Downtown Provo, you’ll want to check out Cafe on Fire! They are Provo’s first and only Persian restaurant and are located at 180 N University Ave #135 in the Zion’s Bank Building.
I was able to stop by for lunch and check out their menu. Everything was completely fresh, healthy and made from scratch, serving exotic flavors of ancient Persia.
You first choose from four different kabobs: pounded beef (koobideh), chicken, ribeye, and vegetarian-friendly eggplant. Then you choose your bread and pile on toppings like lettuce, tomato, onions, peppers, olives, and cilantro. I ordered the Sultan Chicken kabob wrapped in fire bread which came with a couple of traditional Persian sides and to top it all off, a fire-roasted tomato!
After chatting with owner, Borzin Mottaghian I learned that these recipes are the real deal and have been passed down from generations. A lot of people have taken the kebab and put their own influences on it but Cafe on Fire is giving you the original. It’s a lot of fresh tasty food for a good price. So stop by and check it out for yourself!
