Pioneer Day Extravaganza 2016

It’s that time of year again! Families and friends can celebrate their pioneer heritage at Provo’s annual Pioneer Day Extravaganza on Saturday, July 23 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at North Park (500 N 500 West). Thanks to our amazing Parks & Recreation Department, we’ve got an awesome event in store for you! The park will be divided into themed areas which will include: Pioneer Village, Western Frontier, Native American Camp, Homestead, and a Market. There will be a variety of activities, games, and entertainment for all ages. Check out the event map and list of activities below – I know there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Live entertainment: There will be live bands performing on the Main Stage throughout the event from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Hear from Utah Old Time Fiddlers, Grizzly Goat, Brush Fire and Molly in the Mine Shaft.


Homemade Pie Cook-off: Get ready for the most mouthwatering contest of the year. Ten homemade pies baked by Provo residents will be judged by local celebrities and chefs at the event. Winners will be announced on the Main Stage at Noon and free samples will be handed out to attendees afterwards! For more information about the contest and to submit an entry, click here.


Games, Crafts & Activities: Provo’s Pioneer Day Extravaganza is famous for it’s games and crafts. This year you’ll be able to participate in Lasso the Bull, Panning for Gold, Western Photo Booth, Duck Hunt, Face painting, Teepee Craft, Dream Catcher Craft, Milk Bottle Toss, a Petting Zoo, Dutch Oven Cooking, Western Water Fight, and much more!


Rides & Competitions: It wouldn’t be Pioneer Day without some Covered Wagon Rides and a Root Beer Chugging contest! Other rides and contests include: Horse Obstacle Course, Pony Carousel, Log Saw Competition, Pioneer Strength Relay, etc.


Reenactments: Stop by the Pioneer Village and Pioneer Museum for historical reenactments and to learn a new trade. Don’t forget to explore our Native American Village, Mountain Man Encampment, and Trader’s Camp too!


Vendors, Artisans & Yummy Food: Browse our Farmer’s Market located along the southwest side of the park or stop by one of our food trucks. There will be a variety of yummy food from: Amkah Misky Peruvian Specialties, Mama Z’s, Maize Truck, Best Fry Bread and Navajo Taco.
