Provo Photo Contest 2016

PROVO 2

Calling Provo residents, students, businesses, and visitors! Try your luck in Provo’s 3rd annual citywide photography contest.

The contest is from Monday, August 22, 2016 through Sunday, October 30, 2016 and promises to be a real opportunity for everyone and anyone with an eye for the interesting visual moment. Adults, teenagers, children, Instagramers, photography enthusiasts, and amateurs can submit an entry.

Just make sure that the picture you submit for the contest is taken in Provo. So look around and notice what’s going on. Let others see what you see: that mountain morning light, a concert crowd at the Rooftop Concert Series, the bustling downtown scene, climbers at Rock Canyon, or the unique architecture in a historic Provo building.

Provo’s annual photo contest has become a great way to promote and encourage people who live here to notice and appreciate Provo and all it has to offer, visually as well as physically. We have a lot to be proud of here in Provo, but perhaps our biggest brag is our ability to engage in a wide range of natural wonders in our city. From the Wasatch Mountains, to the Provo River, out to Utah Lake and up Provo Canyon, there are endless views to see and recreation to be had. You can go exploring every day and barely scratch the surface.

I am excited to see the beautiful and unique nature of our city, captured by the camera lens.

Good luck to everyone!

Brilliant way to get awesome shots of your city for $0 and no support of the artist. Making it a contest doesn’t make this okay.

Come on guys. Hire a photographer or lease the images appropriately. Better yet, hire a photographer AND lease the images appropriately.

    1. KBA

The city does pay out some prize money for winning images and, as a past winner, my name is credited along with my photo when it is used for promotional purposes. If this isn’t acceptable to other artists, they are under no obligation to participate.

    2. John

It is a brilliant way to get photos of the city. Good thinking Provo city! .

  2. Melanie Epling

I love the idea of doing this. So many of us take great photos and are not in the business to sell, but love to share! And hopefully make a little extra cash on the side!

How do I vote in the 2016 Provo photo contest?
