300 South Project Status Update

300 South

Concrete work on the south side of 300 South is now complete and crews are preparing for a traffic shift on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Early Tuesday morning, all traffic will be shifted to the new concrete on the south side of 300 South. Motorists should be prepared for a new traffic configuration, obey posted signs, and drive with caution. Pedestrian crossing locations will remain at University Avenue, 200 East, 400 East and 700 East during this time.

This shift marks a major milestone in the project and we are more than halfway complete. The project remains on-schedule to complete by the end of this year.

Upcoming Activities

Reconstruction of the north side of 300 South is well underway from 100 West to 400 East. Area residents and businesses can expect an increase in work on the north side between 400 East and 700 East directly following the traffic shift. Activities will include excavation, storm drain and water line installation, grading and paving.

Support Local Businesses

Don’t forget to support local!! As work continues on this project, we want to remind the community that area businesses are open during construction and need your support. The north side of 100 East-300 East are closed while crews install 36” storm drain and a new water line. Area businesses are accessible from 200 South.

Project Impacts:

  • One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Motorists should be prepared for traffic congestion and use alternate routes when possible.
  • Concrete paving will occur at night. Expect an increase in nighttime noise, light and construction activity during this activity. Driveway access interruptions of up to 10 days will occur while the concrete cures.
  • Side street closures will occur while crews work through intersections.
  • Area residents and businesses can expect short-term, intermittent driveway interruptions and construction work during the day and at night to complete work in 2016.
