I’m pleased to announce that the League of American Bicyclists has awarded Provo City Government as a Bicycle Friendly Business at the Bronze level. This is an exciting recognition especially since this award is only presented to businesses with strong commitments to bicycling.
You’ll find plenty of places to park your bike at our city facilities and we encourage biking as an easy way to get to our buildings. Provo’s annual Bike to Work Day event is a great example of this. During Bike Month, Provo City hosts a breakfast station every year to incentivize employees and residents to bike to work.
When our employees bike, great things happen: a decreased carbon footprint, reduced healthcare costs, connected to the community, and a fun and healthy work culture.
Moving forward, Provo City will have access to a variety of tools and technical assistance from the League to become even more bicycle-friendly.
Provo’s bicycle community is vibrant and growing and being recognized for the investments we’ve made is truly satisfying. With approximately 35 miles of bike trails and pathways, 55 miles of bike lanes, and 11 miles of widened and paved street shoulders for riding, residents are enjoying the benefits of cycling including recreation, exercise and transportation and can look forward to more trails and overall better biking conditions in the future.
If your business would like to help make the Provo community safer, happier, healthier, and more sustainable through bicycling please visit the League online at www.bikeleague.org/business to apply or learn more about the Bicycle Friendly Business program.
